VMAz Yo

This past Sunday night MTV offered up yet another serving of its own version of an award show with the 2008 Video Music Awards. After finding out that day that it was even being broadcast later in the evening, I figured I'd try to watch the festive evening at some point. Well unfortunately (or rather fortunate), my life never seems to revolve around a TV schedule and I missed it entirely. Luckily for me though, MTV offers up all of the juicy stuff from the night on their very own VMA website. Soon after playing the clips and checking out the "fashion" slideshows I realized just how far the VMA's have gone down the rabbit hole. But instead of the Matrix, this hole was filled with Disney's latest teenpop marketing machines, trendy socialites no one knows, and others all trying to gain the attention of today's teen TV watchers. Even MTV couldn't resist putting LC, Heidi, and those other chicks on the "A-list" for the night. It seemed more like the fashionista's ComicCon, showing you all the hot new crap you should buy into, because it's sooooo totally 2008. The network is of course "where music, celebrity and pop culture collide!" I decided to compile a post with all the crazy happenings from the night.

First, we should note a few of the classiest from the redcarpet. Not to be outdone buy the Globes or the Academy, MTV invited "all-star attendees" to the event. These all-stars decked themselves out in the newest and hottest trends. Here are a few of the more entertaining outfits:

T-Pain
because what's hotter than teeth wrapped in golden tinfoil?

Tokio Hotel
does anyone actually know who these kids are? At least the girl's got attitude.. oh wait, that's a guy.. who's name is Bill.

More after the jump.

Tyga
Garfield is so hot right now.

Perez Hilton
srsly?

Steven Cojocaru
someone is trying to relive their 20s.

Lupe Fiasco
fiasco's got phat beats, but why did go all Amelia Earnhart on us?

Lil' Wayne and Unidentified Baller
wayne's performance consisted of walking down stairs intently trying to keep his pants from falling off and gettin off the hook with T-Pain while running around the audience. Too Classy.

Here are a few of the more interesting moments of the show.

Britney Opens The VMAs With Jonah Hill

Pretty dull, and the whole time I was thinking Britney was actually going to do more than hold a mic too close to her face.

T-Pain's Parade Arrives
no need for a comment here.

Russell Brand Takes the Stage
talks about himself and Barack Obama, couldn't make out much else.

There are many more moments, including drama over Brand's comment on the Jonas Bros.' (Disney's reincarnation of the Hanson Bros.) promise rings and Jordan Sparks' biting rebuttal. Check it out on the site!

out.

There are no words to describe how hilarious I find this post to be. How long have you been a fashion critic? Regardless, I felt your opinions were quite on point. Whatever happened to the days when the VMAs were THE award shows to watch? Back when Chris Rock was host and the live performances were actually worth watching? MTVs audience is growing younger and younger and it is showing. Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus... really? The Jonas Brothers aren't the Backstreet Boys nor *NSYNC though they write a lot of their own music and had likely the best performance of the night.
